You've Got Mail (and Court Says Others Can Read It): It should be remembered that email is only as 'private' as a post card. Every carrier or handler can read it. This NYTimes article is worth a read and the privacy of email is worth remembering.
PTSD in Iraq Vets: About one in six soldiers returning from the war in Iraq shows signs of post-traumatic stress disorder or other emotional difficulties, researchers are reporting today.
Free IQ test: Your IQ score is 138 This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others. Forward Family

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Overcast but warmer

Not being a forwarder, this came to me and it was one of those that deserved to repeating:

Family

They say if you pass this on, you will receive a miracle. I am passing it on because I thought it was really good, short, and who couldn't use a miracle!

Enjoy it if it happens.

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, we could easily be replaced at work? But the family we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. So, why do we pour ourselves more into work than into our own families? Invest your time wisely.

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

Father And Mother I Love You.

Pass this message to 7 people except you and me. You will receive a miracle tomorrow.

As for me every new day (even the shortening, dreary ones) is miracle enough.

Changes in my Ad Policy

My philosophy to avoid ads like the plague is softening. I added Bravenet ads and links awhile back, but I am now allowing Google driven ads on select pages. In addition I plan to add some features which will have ad-links built into them.

My thinking is that they are innocent enough for the most part and won't create a billboard sort of effect. It must be noted, what ads appear is somewhat beyond my control. By placing ads here, I don't endorse all the possible products to which they may lead. So please be aware of the differences between the things I recommend and the sites you may go to from a ad link. So far the differences appear to me to be quite clear, but if I find they are too confusing I will revert to my former policy.

And the rains came and came

Last week after Frances moved north, we set an all-time record for rainfall in a 24 hour period.

It was 3.6 inches, today as of 4 PM the rainfall was 4.16 inches and going strong. There is serious flooding in areas usually prone to some problems and West Virginia, our neighbor to the south, is in very bad shape state-wide.

The anticipated direction of the storm was to move further east and remain more south of us, but a front that was to have sagged down and eastward out of Canada failed to move. My lights have been flickering a bit and the newly seeded yard is in puddles. The latest weather forecasts are optimistically saying it will stop after midnight. Noon tomorrow, as well as 6 PM, are 'after midnight' so I remain less than enthusiastic about the predictions.

The mulching and general look of the project is good, but I can see things that need adjustment and after winter has its way with freezes and thaws there may be a lot more tweaking to be done. Maybe some more pictures tomorrow. For now, look in the AsparaGus Patch for some rainy day previews.
